New York – Miss Lebanon will reportedly be able to keep her title in spite of landing in hot water over being in a selfie that included Miss Israel. As reported by WebProNews, Saly Greige claimed that she was a victim of a defamation campaign by the pageant winner representing home country’s political rival, Doron Matalon, and did not willfully take the photo with her.
Greige is quoted as stating of the matter on her Facebook page, “From the first day I arrived at the Miss Universe pageant I was very careful not to take any pictures with Miss Israel, who tried repeatedly to take pictures with me. While I was preparing with Miss Slovenia and Miss Japan to get our photograph taken, Miss Israel jumped in and took a selfie with her phone and posted it on social media.”
As noted in the report, a statement was released by the Lebanon government saying of their decision not to act on the controversy, “According to the information we obtained, Miss Lebanon did not have bad intentions that necessitates her being stripped of her title or punishment.”
