California – Demand Media has announced the appointment of a new CEO and the acquisition of online art gallery operator Saatchi Online, Inc. As reported by WebProNews, former CEO of Ticketmaster and Saatchi Art, Sean Moriarty, was recently named to the position by the company, which also appointed co-founder and interim CEO Shawn Colo as President. Colo is set to join the board of directors.
A spokesperson for the company is quoted by WebProNews as stating to the news source, “Following last week’s spinoff of domain registrar business Rightside, Demand Media will be focused on connecting subject experts and content creators with digital and mobile audiences, with Sean Moriarty at the helm.”
Moriarty is further quoted as stating of being named to the position, “Demand Media is an innovative company with a passionate and creative team.
