Arizona – One person died and two others were left wounded following a shooting outside of a casino in northern Arizona. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the person killed was the gunman, who had retrieved a rifle from his vehicle and shot someone after getting into an argument with his wife at the Hon-Dah Resort Casino near Pinetop. His wife and a child who was with them at the time reportedly ran into the casino during the altercation.
The suspected gunman was shot by police after shooting a casino security guard who came outside. A casino patron was also injured according to police; however, his wounds were stated to have possibly resulted from glass or bullet fragments.
The suspect was shot after ignoring officers’ commands to put down his weapon.
Police Chief Travis Tessay Sr. is quoted by the AP as stating of the incident, “A lot of people were in the area. It’s just fortunate the gunman didn’t go inside the building or fire at any other people.”
