Oregon – A man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after admitting to helping his friend attempt to hide his vehicle following a fatal hit-and-run crash. As reported by The Oregonian, Jerin Nigel Crabtree pleaded guilty on Monday to the charge of felony hindering prosecution and was sentenced to three years of probation in addition to the jail time.
The accident, which occurred the evening of Feb. 15, resulted in the death of a 60-year-old pedestrian. Crabtree admitted to helping his friend Jay Taylor Jenkins, who stands accused of striking and killing Douglas Norman Miller with his Subaru station wagon, hide the vehicle after the pair had been drinking at a strip club earlier that afternoon.
Jenkins, who is facing multiple charges related to the accident, including second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants, is set to stand trial next month.
