California – A tree fell onto the Ninja coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, leaving several riders dangling for hours. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a spokesman for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health said Tuesday that almost two dozen riders were left hanging more than 20 feet in the air for approximately three hours until they could be rescued.
A reported 22 riders were stranded in connection with the incident. Four people were stated to have sustained minor injuries. Jeremy Ead, who was among those injured, is quoted as stating to KCAL-TV, “We were going across one turn and all of a sudden a loud noise happened…I ducked down just in time. A hard branch hit me in the head. I was there bleeding from my head, which was a little worse than this,” referencing a forehead gash.
OSHA spokesperson, Peter Melton, said the roller coaster ride will remain closed pending an investigation into what happened.
