Seattle, WA — A wrong-way collision left one woman dead and two others injured on Interstate 5 Tuesday night, March 20, 2012. The fatal automobile accident occurred on the on-ramp from I-5 from Interstate 90 at 1:39 a.m., reported the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
State troopers reported that a Lexus RX300 was traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound lanes when it hit a Toyota Tundra, just south of James Street.
The impact of the collision ejected a female passenger of the Lexus, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released at this time.
Responding emergency crews extricated the driver of the Lexus from the vehicle. The driver’s legs were pinned in the wreckage.
The driver of the Toyota and a 39-year-old Covington woman were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The cause of the wrong-way crash is unknown at this time. Police believe that alcohol may have been a factor.
Investigations are underway.
