Dallas, TX — An American Airlines flight attendant was hospitalized following a “mental episode” that resulted in a rant over the public-speaker system, which made references to 9/11 and claimed the plane was going to crash, the New York Post reported.
Police determined that the 43-year-old woman was having a mental episode and will not face criminal charges in connection with the incident.
The flight attendant reportedly told the passengers of flight 2332 from Dallas/Fort Worth to Chicago that the plane was having technical difficulties, before unleashing her rant that noted 9/11 and American Airline’s bankruptcy reorganization.
Several passengers in first class subsequently restrained the flight attendant, where her behavior reportedly became “combative.”
One flight attendant revealed that the woman was being treated for bipolar disorder and “told her she had not been taking her medication,” according to police reports.
When paramedics arrived the woman tried to spit on them, but missed. She was put in leg restraints before being taken to Parkland Hospital for evaluation.
It is unknown if anyone sustained any injuries as a result of the woman’s episode.
The plane did continue its flight to Chicago with a new flight crew.
