South Korea – Samsung Electronics Co. has offered an apology to chip factory workers who have been sickened by exposure to chemicals in its factories. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company promised to compensate workers who developed cancers linked to the toxic exposure.

Samsung has stated that by apologizing it is not conceding that there is a correlation between exposure in its plants and the development of certain health conditions; but that a solution should have been found sooner to related concerns.

Samsung vice chairman Kwon Oh-hyun is quoted as saying of the matter in an emailed statement, “We feel regret that a solution for this delicate matter has not been found in a timely manner, and we would like to use this opportunity to express our sincerest apology to the affected people.”
