Florida – The parents of Trayvon Martin have settled a wrongful death lawsuit against the homeowners association of the property where their son was shot and killed by a Neighborhood Watch volunteer. As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the settlement amount was not publicly disclosed, but is speculated to be for more than $1 million.

George Zimmerman shot and killed Martin while the teen was walking at the Retreat at Twin Lakes townhomes last year, claiming he did so in self-defense. Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder.

A portion of the settlement terms that have been made public is quoted in the Sentinel report as stating, β€œIt is understood and agreed that the payment made herein is not to be construed as an admission of any liability by or on behalf of the releasing parties; but instead the monies being paid hereunder is consideration for avoiding litigation, the uncertainties stemming from litigation as well as to protect and secure the good name and good will of the released parties.”
