London – Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, and others have reached a settlement with News Corp over its purported illegal espionage campaign. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Ferguson was one of 17 to reach a settlement with News Group Newspapers, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp in connection with an illegal phone hacking scandal on Friday.

The phone hacking scandal first made headlines in 2006 following the arrest of two reporters accused of hacking into voicemails of some members of the royal family.

Paul Tweed, an attorney for Ferguson, is quoted by the AP as stating that in spite of the settlement his client, “remains extremely concerned that questions beyond the scope of these legal proceedings still need to be answered in relation to other instances of inappropriate and extreme intrusion into her private life.”
