Salt Lake City – Arguments regarding a lawsuit brought by the stars of the reality show “Sister Wives” regarding plural marriage were heard by a federal judge on Thursday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), an immediate ruling was not made regarding the issue of whether plural marriage can be prohibited by the state of Utah.
Reality show star Kody Brown and his four wives, who were previously threatened with prosecution in Utah prior to moving to Las Vegas, have asserted that the law is unconstitutional. They were not in attendance at the hearing Thursday in Salt Lake City.
Jonathan Turley of The George Washington University is quoted in the report as stating of the case, “The Browns wanted to show people that a plural family is not a monstrosity… They don’t commit collateral problems.”
