California – A lawsuit has been filed against Instagram over changes to its contract terms. As reported by AFP, the online photo-sharing service, which is owned by Facebook, is accused of breaching its contract with users with privacy policy and terms of service changes that purportedly allow for the use of user pictures by advertisers, royalty-free.
The Finkelstein and Krinsk law firm, which filed the class-action lawsuit, is quoted in the report as asserting in the filing, “Instagram is taking its customers property rights while insulating itself from all liability…In short, Instagram declares that ‘possession is nine tenths of the law and if you don’t like it, you can’t stop us.”
Facebook has reportedly stated in response to the complaint that it is without merit and that the company tends to fight to lawsuit.
