Cerritos, California – The family of a California man whose controversial anti-Islam film, “Innocence of Muslims” has sparked anti-American protests throughout the Middle East has gone into hiding. As reported by ABC News, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula went into hiding after being questioned about his role in the film by federal probation officers, and his family has now joined him.

Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, is quoted in the report as stating of their decision, “They decided they would be safer where they could move about and live a normal life… All we did was pick them up and reunite them with Mr. Nakoula.”

The family is reportedly not expected to return to their home in Cerritos.

Nakoula, who purportedly received death threats since the release of the film, sought protection from law enforcement for himself and his family amid the backlash.
