US President Joe Biden warned Wednesday that some Republican candidates’ refusal to accept election results is a “road to chaos.”
“There are candidates running for every level of office in America … who do not commit to accepting the results of the elections they vote in,” Biden said in excerpts released by the White House from a speech he is giving is due to Washington later in the day.
“This is the road to chaos in America,” he said. “It’s unprecedented. It’s unlawful. And it’s un-American.
“Like I said before, you can’t love your country just by winning,” added the Democratic president.
Six days before the bitterly contested midterm elections, Biden said, “This is no ordinary year.
“In a typical year, we are not often faced with the question of whether our vote preserves or endangers democracy.
“But we are this year,” he said.
Election observers agree that the Democrats will be swept from power in the House of Representatives in a Republican redwave on Tuesday, while the party’s control of the Senate hangs by a thread.
