Microsoft’s $68.7 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard comes as the Santa Monica, California-based gaming company continues to face highly publicized accusations from employees and government agencies that it fostered a culture of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
The acquisition, announced Tuesday, is the largest purchase ever by Microsoft and will make the company the third-largest gaming company in the world by revenue, after Tencent and Sony. Activision is known for some of the world’s most popular video games, including Call of Duty, Candy Crush, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch.
