Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of dozens of cannabinoids contained in the cannabis plant.

Not all cannabinoids are created equal when it comes to popularity, especially when comparing CBD to other cannabinoids.

For many years, the most popular and well-known cannabinoid was THC. However, THC’s popularity has been overtaken by CBD in recent years, at least when it comes to Google searches.

The popularity of CBD in products has also skyrocketed due to its ability to treat various ailments. The rise in popularity is also largely due to global CBD policy reforms.

The increasing use of CBD products by consumers and patients has led some in the regulatory community to worry about whether it could cause too much damage.

Central Business District and Driving

A group of researchers in Switzerland recently explored the relationship between the use of CBD products (cigarettes) and consumers’ ability to smoke. Drive a motor vehicle safely.

“To study the effect of smoking cannabidiol (CBD)-rich cannabis on driving ability and to determine free CBD and ?9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentrations in capillary blood samples, this randomized, double-blind , placebo-controlled, two-way crossover pilot study with 33 participants,” researchers say.

“Participants smoked a combination containing 500 mg of tobacco and 500 mg of CBD-enriched cannabis (16.6% total CBD; 0.9% total THC) or 500 mg of a placebo substance, and then underwent three different dimensions of the Vienna test system TRAFFIC. Reaction times, behavior under stress, and performance of concentration and concentration were examined. To further assess the participants’ driving adaptability, three tests of balance and coordination were assessed, and vital signs (blood pressure and pulse) were measured,” the researchers continued.

“The results showed no significant difference between the effects of smoking CBD-rich cannabis and placebo on reaction time, exercise time, behavior under stress, or attentional performance,” the researchers concluded.

Beware of the DUI laws themselves

Regulators around the world are developing cannabis policies (DUII) specifically for driving under the influence of narcotics. This is one of many aspects of public policy that needs to be reviewed when marijuana laws change.

For any intoxicating substance, the DUI laws fall into two “methods of detection” categories. One is to detect DUII through a comprehensive set of field sobriety tests.

Another category of detection methods is self-limiting. For example, most jurisdictions have their own limits on alcohol, such as the BAC in the US of 0.08.

Many regulators try to rely on the limitations of THC itself, wrongly arguing that marijuana has the same effects on the body as alcohol.

With this in mind, CBD consumers could theoretically accumulate THC in their bodily fluids, which could lead to some unfortunate consequences if they have too much THC and get caught driving in a jurisdiction that has its own laws.
