Newegg, a leading technology-focused retailer, has announced support for the meme cryptocurrency shiba inu (SHIB) by launching a large-scale billboard advertising campaign. Newegg stated that it will accept shiba inu payments in early December, which is earlier than the time when AMC theaters plans to add SHIB.

Newegg launches large-scale advertising campaign for Shiba Inu

Major online retailer Newegg (NASDAQ: NEGG) announced on Tuesday its plan to accept payments in the meme cryptocurrency shiba inu (SHIB).

Newegg is one of North America’s leading technology-focused online retailers, with global presence in Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. Its platform focuses on computer parts, PC components, laptops, gaming systems, auto parts and office supplies.

The announcement explained:

Newegg will begin accepting SHIB in early December, further consolidating Newegg.com as the preferred destination for online shoppers who want to pay with cryptocurrency.

Newegg emphasized that SHIB will be accepted “as a payment method on its platform in time for holidays”. Tuesday’s announcement was made after the company’s Friday tweet, which stated that SHIB is “Coming soon“To New Egg.

The e-commerce giant explained that SHIB’s acceptance announcement was “a large-scale digital outdoor (DOOH) event displayed on The Reef, the largest DOOH billboard in North America.”

Newegg points out that the reef in downtown Los Angeles, California, “surrounds the three sides of a large office building that spans the entire Los Angeles city block.” “The DOOH billboard, 55 feet tall, 736 feet wide, and over 40,000 square feet, is one of the most impressive billboards in the world,” the company describes.

Newegg currently accepts multiple cryptocurrencies through Bitpay.According to Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theatres, crypto payment service providers Decided to add SHIB added it to the list of supported cryptocurrencies at his request.

Aron stated in early November that he expects AMC to be the first company to accept SHIB through Bitpay. However, the theater chain currently does not use Bitpay, and Aron stated that the meme coin shiba inu will be accepted within 60 to 120 days from the date of announcement. This plan will put AMC behind Newegg in accepting SHIB.
