On Monday afternoon, a small plane holding a banner on the Jersey Shore made an emergency landing on the Ninth Street Bridge in Ocean City.
According to Ocean City Police Officer Doug Bergen, no one was injured and the plane did not cause any damage when it landed on the road between Ocean City and Cape Summers.Emergency rescuers rushed to the scene immediately after 12:30 noon
Pilot Langdon Lucas told the authorities that when he flew near the steel terminal in Atlantic City, the plane began to experience engine failure. The 18-year-old who flew for Paramount Air Service released the flag of the plane into the sea. Bergen said that when he noticed the traffic jam on the westbound lane of Highway 52, he was heading to Ocean City Airport.
Police said that after the plane landed unorthodox but smoothly, the crew tried to remove the wings and tow it away. The cause of the emergency landing is currently being investigated.
As of 2 pm, the two bridge lanes entering Ocean City have been reopened to traffic, and only one exit lane is open.
