It is not clear what the cancellation of Paul’s membership will mean to her leadership. According to party regulations, The leader must be a reputable member.

In response to the latest news, a senior Green Party source who supports Paul called the move illegal and undemocratic. Later this month, Paul still faces a vote of no confidence in her leadership.

CBC has contacted the party and Paul himself for comments. Party spokesperson Rosie Emery (Rosie Emery) will only confirm that an emergency meeting was held last night.
