According to the police, a 79-year-old woman was under investigation for allegedly writing an anonymous threat letter, which was sent to the building of a Cambodian community group in South Philadelphia. The woman is said to be disturbed by the fireworks set off in a nearby park.

According to the police, the letter, dated June 30, was sent to the Greater Philadelphia Cambodia Association Center at Block 2400 South Seventh Street. It opened at the center on Monday, and the association contacted law enforcement.

The author threatened to shoot at people who set off fireworks in Mifflin Square Park near Fifth Street and Ritner Street. She also claimed to be a former soldier and stated that the fireworks set off by Cambodian residents “continuously” at the party are affecting her sleep and mental health.

Investigators said that after she “claimed to be the author of this letter,” they identified the woman as the person involved in the case on Wednesday. They also stated that they had determined that the woman was not a former soldier and had no weapons.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office will review the investigation to determine whether criminal charges will be filed. The identity of the woman has not been announced.
