San Diego (CNS)-A 29-year-old man suspected of fatal Stabbed a homeless woman in an apparently random attack Detained at the El Cajon bus station on Monday.
Authorities reported that Shawn Eugene Jones of El Cajon was arrested on Saturday after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into the United States through the San Ysidro port of entry.
According to the police, Jones allegedly attacked 66-year-old Chris Robinson near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Walter Road at around 6.30 pm on Wednesday. She died in the hospital later that night.
El Camino Police Department Lieutenant Keith MacArthur said investigators found surveillance camera images of Jones’ vehicle near the scene of the killing.
“They can quickly provide this information to other agencies to help find suspects,” MacArthur said.
The detectives did not believe that Jones and Robinson knew each other.
“The police are investigating possible motives, but believe that the suspect and the victim are strangers and the attacks are random,” MacArthur said.
Jones was imprisoned in San Diego Central Prison on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is detained without bail pending the summons, which is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
