Have you heard of moon milk? This is an ancient Ayurvedic sleep therapy that contains a variety of anti-inflammatory herbs and spices, as well as a natural adaptogen called ashwagandha, which can help calm the body.
Moon milk
raw material:
1 cup of unsweetened nut milk (hemp, almonds, cashews, etc.)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon ashwagandha
2 pinches grated cardamom
1 pinch grated ginger
1 pinch black pepper
1 teaspoon ghee or virgin coconut oil
1 teaspoon raw honey
route:
-
Add milk to a small saucepan; simmer over medium-low heat.
-
Add cinnamon, turmeric, ashwagandha, cardamom, ginger and black pepper.
-
Stir vigorously (to avoid lumps) until combined.
-
Add ghee/coconut oil, reduce the heat and cook for at least 5-10 minutes. (The longer the cooking time, the thicker the milk.)
-
Remove from the heat and let the milk cool slightly.
-
Add honey and stir. If needed, sprinkle extra cinnamon on top.
Tip: For maximum benefit, please enjoy this drink after dinner or before going to bed.
