LA Jolla, California — A lifeguard issued a warning to the public on Monday that a shark had been found near Black Beach in La Jolla.

According to a San Diego lifeguard, after a sea lion bitten by a shark was spotted on a surfing line at around 2:30 pm on Monday, a shark was believed to be in the Torresson area. The agency sent a boat and spotted a 7-foot-long great white shark north of Black Beach outside the city’s waters.

The beach is still open, but swimmers are being warned of witnessing the incident.

The lifeguard also said that due to sightings, Torrey Pines State Beach may have been temporarily closed.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
