San Diego (CNS) – During the Memorial Day weekend, the average price of self-service gasoline per gallon in San Diego County rose by a tenth of a cent on Saturday to $4.185, the highest price since October 10, 2019. One day later, it increased by one-tenth.

According to data from AAA and the Petroleum Price Information Service, the average price has risen by $28 and 14.7 cents in the past 32 days. In the past 129 days, it has risen 117 days, up 84 cents and 95.8 cents respectively since the beginning of the year.

The average price is 2.4 cents higher than a week ago, 13.4 cents higher than a month ago, and $1.268 higher than a year ago.

Compared to a year ago, the substantial price increase was the result of a sharp drop in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, when driving and demand fell sharply due to permanent orders aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
