Minister of Health “should be fired”-cummins

Dominic Cummings, former chief adviser of Boris Johnson, said today that Health Secretary Matt Hancock was fired for allegedly “lying” at a government meeting.

Cummings told the parliamentary committee: “I think the Secretary of Health should be expelled for at least 15 or 20 things, including lying to everyone after the cabinet meeting and in public.”

When asked about an example, Cummings said Hancock had said that all patients can get the treatment they need during the first peak of the virus. Cummings said this was contrary to a briefing by government health experts, who had said that some patients were not getting the necessary treatment.

He also said that Hancock had told ministers that the supply of personal protective equipment was controlled in April, but that was not the case. Cummings also said that senior civil servants in the country told him that he had lost faith in Hancock’s honesty.

A Hancock spokesperson said: “We absolutely reject Mr. Cummings’ request to the Minister of Health. The Minister of Health will continue to work closely with the Prime Minister to promote vaccines, deal with the risks of variants and support the NHS.”
