Rowan University will require all students and employees to receive the coronavirus vaccine before returning to campus for the 2021-22 school year.

The COVID-19 vaccine requirement applies to all students who live on campus, in an attached house off-campus, or attend classes in person.

Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, President of Rowan University, said: “Rowan University is committed to assisting Murphy and New Jersey to achieve the goal of fully vaccinating 70% of adults.” Say. “We are equally committed to ensuring the safety of our students, employees and neighbors. We are working hard throughout the year to create vibrant campuses and meaningful learning opportunities. As a university community, we must continue to work together to ensure the continued development of public health. Promote.”

But the school provides many incentives for students, encouraging them to roll up their sleeves and receive vaccinations before returning to New Jersey this fall.

If full-time students certify that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 before August 7, they are eligible for a $500 credit, which can be included in their course registration fees this fall.

Residential students will receive an additional $500 bonus to pay for their accommodation. Part-time students will receive prorated credits based on the number of courses taken in the fall semester.

Hoshmand said: “We believe that the road to common vaccines is through widespread vaccination, and we hope that our entire community is committed to achieving the goal of widespread vaccination.” “If we work together, we can achieve this goal. And provide the Rowan University experience we all deserve.”

For medical or religious reasons, students are allowed to opt out of the COVID-19 vaccine requirement. However, residential students who choose not to be vaccinated will be required to be tested for COVID-19 every week.

Even if vaccinations have been carried out, student athletes and professional athletes who are in close contact may still be required to be tested for COVID-19.

The university stated that it is formulating employee incentives in accordance with trade union regulations.

Hoshmand said: “Our students should not bear the burden of ensuring the health of the campus community.” “This is a common work. Only when our whole society is committed to increasing the acceptance of vaccines can we ensure public health.”

Other schools that require students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine during the fall semester include Payne and Drexel, and also Rutgers, Stockton, Lehigh with Princeton.

Now, all adults over the age of 16 in the United States are eligible to use the COVID-19 vaccine.
