Houston, TX – A recent Houston school bus accident caused the deaths of two students. ABC News reported that the bus hit and went over a guardrail while traveling down the freeway, flipping onto the road below.
A woman in a passenger vehicle ran into the school bus while traveling next to it thinking another vehicle was coming into her lane according to Houston Police Department spokesman Victor Senties.
Senties is quoted as stating to reporters “The bus driver attempted to over-correct and put it over the overpass.”
Two other students and the driver of the bus were also seriously injured in the accident. No charges had been filed against the bus driver at the time of the report.
Houston School District Superintendent Terry Grier released a statement following the crash saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and the loss of one of our students… I ask all of the HISD community to join me in praying for all of those involved.”
