New York – The annual Associated Press Media Editors' Journalism Excellence Awards recently honored several news organizations in various categories. Included on the list of top winners was the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Miami Herald as reported by the Associated Press.
This year’s awards featured a new category, the Community Engagement Award, that garnered a high number of entries. Among the winners for this category were the Seattle Times and Vermont Public Radio.
Alan D. Miller, president of APME and managing editor/news for The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch said of the industry, “Challenges in our industry clearly have not diminished the quality of investigative, watchdog reporting in the United States… It's inspiring to read through the many entries in this year's contest and see not only great journalism but also the responses to it.”
The Columbus Dispatch was one of the winners in the 40,000 to 149,999 circulation category. To see an extended list of winners and categories read the full AP report here.
