Los Angeles – A lawsuit has been filed against Manny Pacquiao over his shoulder injury. The suit alleges the boxer failed to disclose that he was injured prior to his recent match with Floyd Mayweather. According to an Associated Press report, the lawsuit was filed on behalf of two plaintiffs, identified as Staphane Vanel and Kami Rahbaran, in federal court in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The suit alleges the plaintiffs, who paid to watch the fight, were defrauded because of the nondisclosed injury, and is seeking class action status for others who paid to view it as well or made bets on the event.
Nevada boxing regulators recently began investigating whether possible disciplinary action should be taken against Pacquiao in the matter. The boxer lost the match to Mayweather in a unanimous decision. He reportedly planned to undergo surgery for a torn rotator cuff days following the fight.
Nevada Athletic Commission chairman Francisco Aguilar stated of the matter, “Our job is to protect the health and safety of fighters and the integrity of the sport… We expect our fighters to be forthright.”
