Texas – A 9-year-old girl has joined in the fight to legalize medical marijuana in the state of Texas. According to a WebProNews report, Alexis Bortell, who suffers with epilepsy, and her family are urging Texas lawmakers to legalize access to the drug for patients who suffer with a range of health conditions. Alexis’ family previously relocated to Colorado so that she could have legal access to medicinal marijuana to help her control her personality altering seizures, which were not stopped by medicines initially prescribed to her by doctors. The family posted on social media of Alexis’ progress after being issued a “red card” in Colorado for a marijuana-based medication, “Since the first dose, she has not had a single symptom or seizure and we’re on day 22 now.” Currently in Texas marijuana is banned for both medical and recreational use.
