New York – Actress Mariel Hemingway has revealed that she was forced to fight off advances from famed director Woody Allen very early in her career. As reported by WebProNews, the actress who played Allen’s teen girlfriend in the film “Manhattan” says in her memoir that Allen took an interest in her when she was 18.
Hemingway is quoted as writing of her experience, “Our relationship was platonic, but I started to see that he had a kind of crush on me, though I dismissed it as the kind of thing that seemed to happen any time middle-aged men got around young women.”
Hemingway writes that Allen flew to her parents home at the time and asked that she go to Paris with him. She felt uncomfortable with the idea however and did not go writing of the incident, “with the certain knowledge that I was an idiot. No one was going to get their own room. His plan, such as it was, involved being with me.”
Hemingway also discusses in “Out Came the Sun” her family’s battles with mental illness and issues she has had with food and her body image as well as other personal struggles.
