Patricia Arquette discusses controversial women’s rights speech on Letterman

New York – Actress Patricia Arquette recently discussed the controversy surrounding her Oscar acceptance speech. As reported by WebProNews, the “Boyhood” star said she has not had all positive reactions to her comments about equal pay for women in the workforce.

Arquette stated while accepting her win for a Best Supporting Actress role, “To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

The speech garnered audience applause; however, she stated that since she has received mixed reactions from people about the issue, but deems it an important topic.

Arquette stated of her remarks, “This is about supporting families, and getting women what they have already earned for their own hard work. Hold your lawmakers accountable … We are a movement, and we are making changes for our daughters. We matter.”
