California – Amazon Web Services has announced that users now have access to Amazon CloudFront signed HTTP cookies. As reported by WebProNews, users can now include a custom signature for object URLs in an HTTP cookie.
The company says the new feature allows for the restriction of access to single or multiple objects without requiring a change in the URLs.
Senior product manager Omid Behzadian is quoted as stating of the feature, “Signed HTTP cookies make it easy to restrict viewer access to your streaming media content… This is a nice addition to AWS’ growing portfolio of security features targeted for media delivery.”
As noted in the report, use of CloudFront will not require additional charges. Office hours for CloudFront will be provided on March 26.
