Washington – The remote controlled drone that recently landed on the lawn of the White House early Monday morning was reportedly piloted by an intoxicated employee of the government. As reported by WebProNews, the Secret Service confirmed that the person was an employee of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

As stated in the report, the NGA is the country’s “primary source of geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT for the Department of Defense and the U.S. Intelligence Community” employing 14,500 contractors, military service people, and government civilians.

According to a New York Times report, “Investigators said the man had been drinking at an apartment nearby. It was not until the next morning, when he woke to his friends telling him that his drone was all over the news, that he contacted his employer, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and then called the Secret Service to confess.”

It has yet to be stated whether the person will face disciplinary action.
