New Jersey – New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Cunningham has been arrested over purported revenge porn. As reported by WebProNews, Cunningham was charged with several offenses including third-degree invasion of privacy for the unlawful spreading of sexual images after allegedly releasing graphic images of someone he was dating without her knowledge.
A report in The Daily Dot is quoted as stating in reference to the Dec. 29 arrest, “the charge stems from alleged ‘dissemination of images of a sexual nature to another person’ without that person’s consent.”
A spokesman for the Jets is quoted as releasing the brief statement about the player’s arrest, “We are aware of the situation. This is a pending legal matter and we will have no comment.”
As noted in the report, there are 13 states in the U.S. that currently have laws that target revenge porn, and several others have introduced legislation concerning he practice.
