New York – Two window washers were saved after being trapped on dangling scaffolding on the side of the One Word Trade Center. As reported by Yahoo News, emergency workers rescued the men around 2:15 after the FDNY began receiving calls about the situation over an hour prior on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Deshana Hamid who witnessed the incident is quoted as posting on Instagram, “Jesus Christ how scary! Hanging from the 50th floor! Absolutely horrified right now.”
Frank Dwyer with the FDNY is quoted as stating during the rescue effort, “We have more than a dozen units including several highly trained specialized rescue companies that deal with high-angle rescues.”
As noted in the report, the FDNY and NYPD have had to respond to several other incidents this year involving workers being pulled to safety following a scaffolding collapse.
