New York – A stranded Norwegian Cruise Line ship reportedly hit a whale in the New York Harbor. As reported by Reuters, the ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, became stuck in the Hudson River over the weekend authorities stated Tuesday. The 45-foot female whale was found dead early Monday.
Norwegian Cruise Line is quoted as releasing the statement regarding he incident Tuesday, “We take every precaution to avoid marine life and were saddened by the recent discovery.”
The ship was returning to New York following a tour of the Bahamas and Florida.
NOAA investigating officer Jeffrey Ray who has said there is a continuing investigation into the incident is quoted as stating, “At this point, we just don’t know if it is the cause of the (ship’s) delay.”
