New York – An unlikely New York City tourist attraction has drawn the attention of numerous visitors who travel to the city every year. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), night court has become a popular stop as television shows like “Law & Order” increased in popularity over time and intrigued many who seek a real-life view of what goes on in New York courts.
As noted in the report, Manhattan Criminal Court handles a reported 100,000 cases each year, with a significant number being handled during the 5 p.m.-1 a.m. night session.
Jenny Baumann, a 26-year-old visitor to the city who traveled from Munich, Germany, is quoted by the AP as stating of sitting as a spectator in a Manhattan courtroom, “It’s very interesting to hear real cases.”
The report further notes that among the many tourists who visit the night courts are law students and others who want to learn more about the justice system in New York.
