New York – American Airlines has announced plans to end its ticketing agreement with JetBlue Airways. As reported by Reuters, the airline cited that it’s December merger with US Airways provided it with “greater connectivity” along the East Coast in the United States.
The stated interline agreement American had with JetBlue allowed customers to make connecting flight purchases for each company’s planes on one ticket. The agreement also covered frequent flyer programs and baggage handling.
American Airlines’ spokesman Casey Norton is quoted as writing of the plans in an email to Reuters, “Through the merger with US Airways, American’s network along the East Coast provides greater connectivity and customer benefits and there is no longer a need to supplement our combined network coverage with the JetBlue agreement.”
