Oregon – An Oregon school board voted on Wednesday to lift a ban on school employees with concealed weapons permits carrying guns on school grounds. As reported by ABC News, the recent decision of the St. Helens School District board affects seven schools in the district.
St. Helens School Board chairman Marshall Porter is quoted as stating to ABCNews.com, “The current law in Oregon allows for anybody to concealed carry on school grounds… To exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they so choose.”
The school board voted 4-1 in favor of allowing teachers to carry weapons on campus with a permit.
