Washington – Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen has requested the deadline for open enrollment under President Obama’s health care law be moved. As reported by USA TODAY, Sen. Shaheen of New Hampshire is the first to join the Republicans in making the request for an extension, suggesting the deadline should be moved past March 31, 2014.
Shaheen is quoted as writing in a letter sent to Obama on Tuesday, “Allowing extra time for consumers is critically important so they have the opportunity to become familiar with the website, survey their options and enroll.”
Obama, who has recently expressed frustration about the issues concerning the online health insurance exchanges, reportedly chose Jeffrey Zients on Tuesday to head efforts to fix the Healthcare.gov website.
