India – Police in India have filed a case against Miss Universe Olivia Culpo over a fashion shoot at the Taj Mahal. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a police officer stated on Thursday that she and others who were with her have been accused of violating India’s Heritage Act.

Police Inspector Sushant Gaur, said the group shot a footwear commercial at the Taj Mahal last weekend while Culpo was visiting India. Gaur further asserted the group did not obtain permission from the Archaeological Survey of India for the shoot.

Culpo is quoted by the AP as stating to the Providence Journal of Rhode Island regarding the photo shoot, “I guess their vision was, ‘What’s better to identify India than the Taj Mahal?’ But unfortunately it’s something that was highly offensive.” Honestly, I did say out loud at one point, ‘Isn’t this a little inappropriate?

If found guilty of related charges, the group could receive up to two years in jail and a fine of 100,000 rupees ($1,600).
