Valley Springs, CA – The family of a 12-year-old boy who was arrested for the stabbing death of his 8-year-old sister expressed shock Monday at the arrest. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the boy, who claimed last month to have seen a man fleeing the familiy’s home before finding his sister with stab wounds, was arrested Saturday in connection with the killing.
Justin Fowler, the older brother of the 12-year-old, is quoted by the AP as stating of the dual tragedy, “We’re just in a fog… We’re just trying to stay positive, but it’s hard.”
Superintendent of Toyon Middle School, Mark Campbell, is further quoted in the report as stating, “Our kids are experiencing a lot of mixed emotions…We have a degree of ease that it’s not a random assailant, but it’s a double whammy from our school perspective. We lost a student and we stand to lose another. It’s a lot for our kids to process.”
