Seattle – A baby and his mother were injured in a pedestrian accident in which his grandparents were killed Monday by a suspected drunken driver. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Karina Schulte, 33, and her 10-day-old son were stated to be in critical condition Tuesday after Mark Mullan, 50, hit her family with his vehicle while they were walking in a crosswalk.
Dennis Schulte, 66, and Judith Schulte, 68 died at the scene after being struck by Mullan, who has been held on $2.5 million bail. Prosecutors reportedly have until Thursday to bring formal charges against him.
Mullan’s license had been suspended at the time of the accident according to court documents. An officer also purported in the documents that preliminary results showed Mullan had a breath alcohol level that was almost three times the legal limit.
The baby’s grandparents had recently to the area to be near the family.
