Akron, Ohio – A jury recommended the death penalty Wednesday in a case involving the deaths of three men lured by job ads on Craigslist. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the jury that convicted Richard Beasley, 53, of the killings, made the recommendation following testimony by his mother and other witnesses.
Beasley reportedly used the help of a teenager to lure men with bogus job offers as farmhands and rob them.
Jack Kern, whose 47-year-old son, Timothy Kern, was one of the men killed is quoted by the AP as stating of the jury’s recommendation, “They made the right decision… They knew what they had in their heart and what they had to do. They did it for us.”
Sentencing in the case has been set for Tuesday.
