School Bus Accident in Hamilton Injures 8

Hamilton, NJ — A school bus accident in Hamilton left seven students and their school bus driver injured on Monday, February 18, 2013. The school bus crash occurred around 3 p.m. along Merrick Road near the intersection of Edgebrook Road, the NJ.com reported.

According to officials, the school bus transporting 14 students from St. Gregory the Great Academy swerved to avoid a deer, causing the bus to run off the road and into a ditch.

Responding emergency crews transported six children by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton for medical treatment. Family members transported a seventh student to the hospital.

The victims, who range in age from 8th grade to 4th graders, have since all been treated and released except for one child who remains hospitalized.

The bus driver was also taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.
