Chicago – A thief who stole four rings from a Chicago family returned them along with a letter of apology 15 years later. As reported by ABC News, fours rings taken from the Riphagen family were returned with an anonymous note by the purported thief, who referred to themselves in the letter as a “dumb kid who wants to right a wrong.”

Margot Riphagen, 31, who was 16 when the theft occurred, is quoted in the report as stating of the return of the jewelry, “We never thought we would get any of the stuff back. It’s completely amazing and wonderful and we’re all thrilled about it. It’s a super-positive thing and a great way to start the New Year.”

Riphagen is further quoted as stating, “We don’t care who it was. I was stupid when I was 16 and I’m sure they were too. Somebody did it for the thrill of it, not for money.”
