Dallas, TX – A Dallas truck driver who was imprisoned in Mexico on a possession of ammunition charge may be released. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a federal judge has stated 27-year-old Jabin Bogan may be released from the prison on supervised released upon payment of a fine.
Bogan was reportedly arrested after crossing into Juarez, Mexico earlier this year with assault rifle ammunition in his trailer. Bogan claims, he took a wrong exit while making deliveries and ended up crossing the border. He received an ammunition trafficking charge, for which he initially faced a prison sentence of up to 30 years, but the charge was reduced due to conflicting claims of prosecutors and Mexican customs agents.
Bogan’s mother, Aletha Smith, is quoted by the AP as stating of her son’s possible return home, “I am happy; I need to come up with the money… After I pay the fine, they will start the process of releasing my son.”
