Moscow – Two members of the female punk rock band Pussy Riot have reportedly fled Russia following the sentencing of three fellow bandmates. As reported by Reuters, the band said Sunday that the members fled to avoid prosecution related to a staged protest against President Vladimir Putin at a cathedral earlier this year.

According to the report, a Twitter account called Pussy Riot Group stated, “In regard to the pursuit, two of our members have successfully fled the country! They are recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new actions!”

Pyotr Verzilov, the husband of one of the members of the band who was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison for the purported “punk prayer,” is quoted in the report as stating by phone, “Since the Moscow police said they are searching for them, they will keep a low profile for now. They are in a safe place beyond the reach of the Russian police.”
