Bismarck, N.D. – A man has been charged in the deaths of two children killed after he ran his vehicle into a tent at a campground. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), authorities charged Juan Acosta with manslaughter, drunken driving, and other crimes related to the crash in which 5-year-old Alaries Ruiz and his 9-year-old brother, Cyris Ruiz were killed.

The father of the boys, Juan Ruiz, and a friend who was with them at the time, 9-year-old Anthony Tabarez Jr. were also injured in the accident.

Highway Patrol Trooper Capt. Gary Orluck is quoted by the AP as stating of Acosta’s actions, “He was driving too fast on a campground road, lost control and ran over the tent and crashed into a tree.”

The boys were reportedly visiting their father from El Paso, Texas.
